The Wetlands Centre

Rawlinsons were engaged by the City of Cockburn for full quantity surveying services for the redevelopment of the Wetlands Precinct located on Bibra Lake Reserve. This integrated environment community hub includes the Wetlands Centre Building, Native Arc Building, Scout Shed, Native Plant Nursery and Artificial Wetland, Carpark and Pedestrian Management, Landscaping and Ecological Sustainable Design (ESD) features.

Working closely with the City of Cockburn and the three stakeholders, Native Arc, Wetlands and Scouts, Rawlinsons have worked within tight budget constraints, ensuring the scope of works is met within the $5.8 million budget.

Rawlinsons was closely involved in the cost control process at Schematic and Design Development stages, through value engineering. BE Projects were awarded the contract in January 2020, with construction works commencing in February 2020. The awarded Contract Price was approximately 20% below the approved budget, allowing a healthy contingency of more than $500,000.00. This allowed the City of Cockburn to include additional scope of works, namely landscape and irrigation, into the Contract as a variation.

Rawlinsons maintained a good working relationship with the Contractor to ensure the Post Contract procurement process had minimal disagreements through open and reasonable communications and discussions, with the objective of completing the project within budget and time.
